Artist statement

Puncture (holding it together) is a part of a wider project exploring how in/visibility can be fabricated to reclaim one’s own body.

Specifically interested in the thinning of borders between the internal and external body in the after image of trauma, the work confronts the perception of the body by questioning its legibility and overt visibility.

Each work references particular experiences but remains ambiguous to the viewers, the paintings themselves evidencing the emotional resonance instead as another form of personal protection and reclamation.
