Artist statement

Drawing sits alongside my painting practice as a method of observation and documentation. My creative process begins with a moment of social tension, an observation of an interaction in my daily life that elicits discomfort, but also a bizarre sense of humour. Recording these instances through spontaneous drawing allows me to carry them with me, giving me the opportunity to consider them closely and imbue them with cultural meaning as I consider the context they are rooted in.
