Artist statement

Mei Lin's (he/they) drawing practice is a playful exploration of Crip, Queer and Diasporic relationality and ‘sense-making’. Using jumbo colour pencils, his expressive mark-making is colourful, and embodied. This joyful approach to drawing and use of ‘lo-fi’ materials allows Mei Lin to create from bed, and work with, rather than against, their Long-Covid.

Rhizome explores non-linear ways of thinking and being – reflected in the repetition of ginger, citrus and objects across their drawings.
