Artist statement

Dreaming of this seeks to confront and reclaim the body from the after-image of its trauma. Interested in photographic interventions role in the fracturing and reconstruction of an image against expectations, the work operates through a decolonial feminist framework.

As a body emerges and disappears across the surface of the work, lines of thread and stitching follow its ghost upon the used bedsheet, playing into ideas of in/visibility and legibility when discussing the traumatic. Dual ideas of tension and comfort arise within the materiality of the taught fabric weighed down by heavy earthenware.
