This FAQ page has been created to address common questions and concerns regarding the redesigned program structure, curriculum updates, and what these changes mean for both current and prospective students.

We鈥檙e planning to launch the redesigned Medicine Program in 2028 (subject to approvals from the Australian Medical Council and the 黑料网大事记 Academic Board).

Some of the key changes we plan to introduce include:
- Greater alignment of the Medicine Program teaching calendar to the standard 黑料网大事记 Flex-Semester teaching calendar, particularly for Years 1 to 3, providing students with a typical 黑料网大事记 undergraduate experience.
- New Graduate Capabilities, underpinned by new Phase Learning Outcomes, replacing the current capability indicator statements, which align to the .
- Updated curriculum, providing students with enhanced knowledge, skills, and professional attributes needed to graduate and succeed in a rapidly changing healthcare system.
- Streamlined assessment, with a focus on programmatic assessment for learning.
- A new General Practice longitudinal placement (GPLP) completed alongside the Independent Learning Project or Honours program in Year 4, enabling students to engage with the continuing care of patients in primary care and obtain early exposure to general practice.
- For students based in Sydney, an extended 7-week rural short-term placement in Year 5, providing the opportunity for a deep rural immersion experience.
- An enhanced pre-internship program in Year 6, with a focus on developing professional skills, including teaching, leadership, communication, and teamwork.
Some things will remain the same:
- Students will graduate with the same qualifications, the BMedMD (and the BSc (Med) Honours, if they undertake Honours in Year 4).
- Students will still take six years to complete the program.
- The total units of credit won鈥檛 change.
- Admissions and entry pathways won't change.
- Students will still undertake clinical immersion in six core clinical disciplines in Phase 3.
- Students will still have the opportunity to undertake an 8-week Elective term in Year 6, which may be in an overseas location.
- The clinical campuses will remain unchanged, with additional general practice placements available at both Sydney and rural clinical campuses.

Students enrolled in Years 1 and 2 of the current Medicine Program in 2025 will be automatically transferred to the redesigned Medicine Program:
- Current Year 1 students will transfer automatically into Year 4 of the redesigned Medicine Program in 2028.
- Current Year 2 students will transition into the redesigned curriculum in 2027, undertaking the new General Practice Longitudinal Placement (GPLP) alongside their Independent Learning Project or Honours in Year 4.
Current Year 3 BMedSc students who have received an offer to join the Medicine Program in 2027 (Lateral Entry Students) will complete Year 3 in the current Medicine Program in 2027 and then transfer automatically into Year 5 of the redesigned Medicine Program in 2028.
Note: Students enrolled in Years 3, 4, 5, and 6 of the Medicine Program in 2025 will continue in and complete their studies in the current Medicine or Medicine/Arts Program (3805 or 3856), provided they remain on track with their studies.

- Students commencing in 2026 will complete the first three years in the current Medicine Program and then transfer automatically to Year 4 of the redesigned Medicine Program in 2029.
- Students commencing in 2027 will complete the first two years in the current Medicine Program and then transfer automatically to Year 3 of the redesigned Medicine Program in 2029.
- Students commencing from 2028 onwards will study in the redesigned Medicine Program for their entire six-year program.

Yes. 黑料网大事记鈥檚 direct entry medical program enables students to complete their medical degree in the shortest time.
We鈥檙e proud to offer a program that meets the needs of students from diverse backgrounds and all walks of life. As such, we also offer a range of entry schemes into the Bachelor of Medical Studies (BMed)/Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree program including:
- Gateway Entry Scheme
- Indigenous Entry Scheme
- Lateral Entry Scheme (graduate-entry stream)
- Rural Entry Scheme

No. There will be no changes to entry requirements.

A variety of modalities will be employed to deliver the new Medicine curriculum including face-to-face and online methods.
During the first two years, students will continue to learn together in person on campus, with small and large group learning activities, including case-based collaborative learning sessions, clinical skills tutorials and biomedical sciences practical labs. Some content will be delivered online, both synchronously and asynchronously, to enhance flexibility for students.

The longitudinal general practice placement in Year 4 of the redesigned 黑料网大事记 Medicine Program is a year-long, half-day-per-week experience in a general practice. Alongside a full-time research project, it enables students to build strong relationships, foster a deep understanding of community-based care, and develop key skills in communication, teamwork, and person-centred practice.
