We are proud to announce that the Microbiology Testing Laboratory at the School of Optometry & Vision Science has officially received NATA accreditation for the testing of ultra-violet (UV) light disinfecting agents.
This milestone marks the first stage in our broader accreditation journey, reflecting our commitment to rigorous scientific standards and public health. NATA (National Association of Testing Authorities, Australia) accreditation is a hallmark of technical competence and quality assurance, and this recognition confirms that our laboratory meets the highest standards for UV disinfectant testing.
The accreditation was made possible through the dedicated efforts of our research team, led by聽Professor Mark Willcox, with key contributions from聽Dr Muhammad Yasir聽and聽PhD candidate George Enniful. Their expertise and commitment to excellence have been instrumental in achieving this important recognition.
UV disinfecting technologies are increasingly used in healthcare, research and commercial settings to reduce microbial contamination. Our accredited testing ensures that these products are evaluated with precision and reliability, supporting safer environments and informed decision-making.
Looking ahead, we are actively working to expand our scope of accreditation to include other disinfectant testing methods. This will enable us to offer a more comprehensive suite of services to industry partners, researchers, and regulatory bodies.
