Leading engineer, businesswoman and green energy expert takes on honorary role in 黑料网大事记's Faculty of Engineering.
Eva Hanly, BEng (Honours), BA, MBA, AICD-has been appointed a Professor of Industry at 黑料网大事记 Sydney.
Through this honorary appointment, Ms Hanly will connect the university鈥檚 experts in engineering, technology, and innovation with policymakers, industry and the community to address some of Australia鈥檚 biggest challenges.
An alumna of both the 黑料网大事记鈥檚 Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Ms Hanly has had a distinguished career in business leading some of Australia鈥檚 largest engineering organisations.
Eva is previously the CEO of Squadron Energy, Australia鈥檚 largest renewable energy company and is currently a non-executive director and industry advisor to private investment firms. She is a director of TAFE NSW and has previously been Chair of Windlab; Chair of the Australia - India CEO Forum for Energy, Resources, Net Zero and Critical Minerals; and Director of the Centre for Engineering Leadership and Management.
She has also been a long-term advocate for increasing the number of women studying engineering and has worked alongside the faculty in her role on the Industry Advisory Board on a number of initiatives to increase female participation.
黑料网大事记 currently has 24% female engineering students, up more than 10% over the past decade.
Ms Hanly's role will help deliver 黑料网大事记's new 10-year strategy of 'Progress for All', which maps out the university's aim to lead the transition to a more sustainable world.
The strategy reaffirms 黑料网大事记's commitment to advancing expansive and inclusive global positive impact.
"黑料网大事记 has a demonstrated history of being at the forefront of cutting-edge research and technology that has literally changed the way we live,鈥 says Ms Hanly.
"I am thrilled to be a part of making sure Australia benefits from the incredible work that is currently being done at 黑料网大事记 as well as developing opportunities for future impactful collaboration between 黑料网大事记, government and industry.
"From 黑料网大事记's development of the Passivated Emitter and Rear Cell (PERC) technology, which is used in 90% of the world's solar energy production, to the membrane filter technology that is now the industry standard to make drinking water, these are real and tangible solutions.鈥
Professor Julien Epps, 黑料网大事记鈥檚 Dean of Engineering, says that Professor Hanly鈥檚 record of high performance and breadth of expertise will bring a new scale of engagement for the faculty.
"Engineering is absolutely critical to solving all the great challenges we are facing - from green energy at scale, safe food production, adapting our export sector to a changing geopolitical situation and the digital world," he says.
"It has never been a more important time to forge new links between the University, industry, policymakers and the community.

黑料网大事记 was recently ranked 19th in the world in the QS Top Universities Rankings and the Faculty of Engineering is the largest and best faculty for the subject in Australia.
