Ed Broadbent is the PRN Project Officer for the National Centre for Clinical Research on Emerging Drugs (NCCRED). Ed has extensive experience in mental health, health promotion, emerging drugs (AOD), development, and education. He has demonstrated a strong aptitude for directing and leading impactful national and grassroots projects that foster healthy, connected, and sustainable communities. Ed is passionate about driving positive change through evidence-informed design, collaborative development, and impact-focused evaluation, continuously striving to create meaningful, long-lasting improvements in public health and community wellbeing.

Simon Caldwell joined NDARC, ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Sydney in 2021 as a Research Assistant in the Tobacco Research Group, working on two large randomised studies: the Vaporised Nicotine Product study and the Tailored Text Message study. He has a BMedia (Hons) from Macquarie University and has an ongoing interest in qualitative and quantitative research in a number of areas.

Kali Chandrasena joined NDARC, ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Sydney in 2021 and is working in the Drug Trends team as the NSW Coordinator for Ecstasy and Related Drug Reporting System (EDRS) and the Illicit Drug Reporting System (IDRS). She has a public health policy background and has worked for multiple community-based organisations to develop and advocate for evidence-based and rights-based public health policies impacting marginalised communities. Kali has a strong interest in harm reduction, reducing stigma and discrimination against marginalised communities, and producing research that supports people-centred public health policies.

Agata Chrzanowska is a senior researcher at NDARC, ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Sydney. She joined NDARC as a Research Officer in December 2018. She manages hospital and treatment administrative databases and cause-of-death data under the Drug Trends program. Her work involves data management, statistical analyses, and the preparation of reports and other outputs, and contributes to understanding drug trends and their impact. Agata completed her Master's degree in Biostatistics from the University of Sydney in 2018. With several years of experience in public health, she has worked on various independent research projects across different domains.

Dr Amy Gibson is an epidemiologist with extensive experience in academic research, research support, and postgraduate teaching in the university setting. She holds undergraduate degrees in Bachelor of Science (Hons) and Bachelor of Arts. Dr Gibson completed her Master of Public Health at the University of Sydney in 2004 and earned her PhD from ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Sydney in 2009. With over 20 years of experience in clinical and linked data public health research, she has collaborated with multidisciplinary teams and has held positions at the Centre for Big Data Research in Health, School of Population Health, Centre for Primary Health Care and Equity, and NDARC, ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Sydney.

Jemma Hallen is the Project Manager for the National Centre for Clinical Research on Emerging Drugs (NCCRED) and has a Bachelor of Media (PR & Advertising). She started as the Executive Assistant to the Director and was moved to the Project Officer role in September 2020 after acting in that role for 11 months. She was then promoted to Project Manager in September 2021.

Claire Hoyle is a Research Officer at NDARC, ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Sydney. She has over 20 years’ experience as a Clinical Pharmacist, with more than 10 years specialising in Mental Health within the NSW Health setting. She is a Pharmacist Consultant/Fellow of Australia New Zealand College of Advanced Pharmacy (ANZCAP) in both Mental Health and Leadership and Management. She holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy (University of Otago), Professional Honours (University of Tasmania), Graduate Certificate in Pharmacy Practice (Monash University), Master of Clinical Pharmacy (University of Tasmania), and is currently completing a Master of Public Health (University of New South Wales). Claire has strong research interests in the mental health and drug and alcohol fields.

Since 2018, Nicola (Nikky) Jones (Nikky), has been working as a Biostatistician at NDARC, ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Sydney. Primary role has involved the statistical design and analysis for studies using the Opioid Agonist Treatment and Safety (OATS) Study. The OATS study is a data linkage study and aims to quantify the risk of mortality (all-cause, fatal overdose and suicide) and other adverse outcomes such as: overdose; self-harm; and injecting related diseases; using individuals registered in the NSW Controlled Drugs Data Collection (CoDDaC) for opioid dependence.

She is a public health professional with expertise in research and knowledge translation, learning and development, vocational education and training, learning design and all types of writing for the health and community sector; Dora also worked for more than 10 years in the Youth Alcohol and Other Drug sector and in Harm Reduction service delivery.

Toni Karlsson joined NDARC, ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Sydney in September 2013. She is currently working as the co-ordinator for the Illicit Drug Reporting System (IDRS) and the Ecstasy and Related Drugs Reporting System (EDRS) for South Australia. Prior to this, Toni worked across a number of opioid-related projects, including the National Opioid Medications Abuse Deterrence (NOMAD) study, the Pharmaceutical Opioid Users in Treatment (POUT) study, and a pilot trial of the cost-effectiveness of two interventions to improve GPs prescribing of pharmaceutical opioids. Toni completed her Master's Degree in Health Science (Clinical Data Management) through the University of Sydney. Preceding this, Toni completed her Bachelor's Degree in Applied Science (Health Information Management), also through the University of Sydney.

Mia Miller is a public health researcher with 6 years' experience in alcohol and other drugs research, and a background working for the Australian Government Department of Health and the National Health and Medical Research Centre (NHMRC) in both cancer screening and infectious diseases policy. She is a mixed-methods researcher working on alcohol policy research at NDARC, ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Sydney with a focus on alcohol pricing, alcohol marketing and no- and low-alcohol beverages (NoLos). She convenes the International Research Network on NoLos, which comprises over 40 researchers across 5 continents.

Lucy Saunders joined NDARC, ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Sydney in 2021 as the Project Coordinator for the Tina Trial, a multi-site phase three clinical trial of mirtazapine for methamphetamine dependence (tinarial.info). Lucy has previously coordinated large scale multi site clinical trials for depression, bipolar disorder, dietary interventions and online interventions at Deakin University. She has also worked on the N-ICE trial of NAC for methamphetamine dependence.

Paige Webb is a Research Officer at NDARC, ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Sydney. She obtained a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) from Macquarie University in 2019. For her honours project she conducted a rodent model of methamphetamine self-administration following a period of adolescent isolation. Paige commenced her PhD in 2022, which explores the impact of methamphetamine use on the family of people who use it. She is passionate about reducing stigma surrounding drug use and dependence, for both people who use drugs and their loved ones.
