- Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), School of Chemical Engineering, ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Sydney, Australia.
- Bachelor of Chemical Engineering (Hons), School of Chemical Engineering, ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Sydney, Australia.
Choon Jie Wong is an Early Career Academic Fellow and Associate Lecturer in the School of Chemical Engineering, where he works in the Computer Process Control Group.
Through the Australian Research Council IESS Research Hub, he develops novel methods to use energy-intensive, high-temperature aluminium smelting cells as virtual energy storage systems, supporting grid demand-side response and enabling flexible manufacturing. His expertise in light metals process modelling, digital twinning, and applied control technologies has contributed to three international industrial projects valued at over A$2M.
Collaborating with leading process control and electrochemistry experts Prof. Jie Bao, Emeritus Prof. Maria Skyllas-Kazacos AM FTSE, and Emeritus Prof. Barry Welch, he works closely with major international aluminium smelters to deliver research with high industry readiness. He has disseminated his findings at multiple international conferences.
Choon Jie has a PhD in Chemical Engineering from ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç in 2022 and has received recognition including a University Medal, First-Class Honours, two Dean's Awards, and multiple scholarships. He was also awarded a Microgrant to innovate in teaching and curriculum modernisation.
