Lisa Gilanyi is an experienced TESOL teacher and Lecturer in language and literacy. Her current teaching areas include TESOL teacher education and Communication skills development and she has a strong commitment to preparing teachers at all levels to implement sound, evidence-based pedagogy and communicate effectively with students, colleagues and families. Her research focuses on a range of pedagogical contexts such English as a Medium of Instruction (EMI), Content Language Integrated Learning (CLIL), Hyflex and online learning, and integrating AI into second language and teaching. She is passionate about equity in education and her research also addresses a range of equity issues, including supporting students from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds or with disabilities, and engaging with parents and carers to improve learning outcomes for vulnerable students. She is highly experienced in qualitative research methods, including narrative enquiry and interview, and has conducted hundreds of individual and focus group interviews throughout her research career, including interviewing using interpreters.
