
Emeritus Professor Louise Edwards

Louise Edwards is Scientia Professor of Chinese History. She publishes on women and gender in China and Asia. Her most recent books include (Washington University Press, 2020),聽 (Stanford University Press 2008) and (Cambridge University Press 2016). Edwards is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Humanities, The Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia and the Hong Kong Academy of the Humanities. Between 2015-2016 she served as聽.
She has taught at a number聽of universities: The University of Hong Kong, University of Technology Sydney, Australian National University, Australian Catholic University and the University of Queensland, and held a visiting fellowship at the Centre for Chinese Studies at the National Central Library in聽Taipei. She studied at the Beijing Languages Institute and Nanjing University and was聽awarded her BA from Auckland University, BA (hons) from Murdoch University, and聽PhD from Griffith University.
Edwards currently holds Honorary Professorships at Hong Kong University, UTS-ACRI, and University of Melbourne.
