Dr Matthew Taylor
Adjunct Professor Matt Taylor is Senior Principal Research Scientist and Program Leader—Recreational Fisheries Research with the New South Wales (NSW) Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development. He is a marine recreational fisheries scientist working across a spectrum of contemporary recreational fisheries research areas, but with a career-long specialisation in applied ecological research supporting fisheries enhancement and restoration. He leads a team of 6 Senior Research Scientists, and has authored 223 peer-reviewed contributions to international journals, has a career total of $27m in competitive grant funding, and has supervised 22 PhD students thus far. Through his position with the NSW Government, his current program of work provides the scientific basis for all evidence-based management of recreational fisheries in NSW.
