Prof. Robert A. Taylor has served as an academic in the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering since 2011.
Research Interests
Prof. Robert A Taylor's main research interest is in the development of 鈥榥ext generation鈥 solar and thermal energy systems. Drawing on the fields of heat transfer and nanotechnology, he is researching new/novel components, fluids, materials, and systems to increase the utilisation of solar energy in society. As such, his main goal is to provide a more efficient and more economic coupling between solar energy and useful thermal and/or electrical energy.
Current Research Projects
- Solar desalination systems
 - Hybrid photovoltaic/thermal systems
 - Concentrating solar thermal technologies
 - Engineered optical materials (nanofluids, thin films, selective surfaces)
 - High temperature receviers, storage materials,听and working fluids for solar thermal harvesting
 - Micro/Nanotechnology (applying micro/nano- bubbles and particles to a variety of applicaitons)
