Dr. Vitor Vieira Rielli is a Scientia Lecturer and Alcoa Research Fellow at ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Sydney's School of Materials Science & Engineering, specialised in the development and optimisation of materials for extreme environments. Awarded the prestigious ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Scientia Program (2024) and Dean's Award for Outstanding PhD Thesis (2023), he investigates how materials behave across multiple length scales—from macro to nano mechanical properties—under diverse environmental conditions. His research employs cutting-edge characterisation techniques to advance the fundamental understanding of how processing influences material performance, with publications in top-tier journals and active collaborations spanning the aerospace, defence, and mining industries.

Having conducted research at prestigious institutions across four continents, including the Max Planck Institute for Sustainable Materials, Dr. Rielli brings a global perspective to materials innovation. A dedicated educator, he teaches a core undergraduate course in materials science and engineering while mentoring the next generation of researchers. With over AUD $700,000 in funding and regular keynote/invited presentations at international conferences, Dr. Rielli is committed to translating scientific insights into real-world solutions that support Australian industrial and defence capabilities.
