Problem solving and innovating solutions is at the core of what we do.聽Both project and internal developments have generated solutions for UAVs, UGVs, RSOs, data filtering and fusion and agricultural image processing.聽These solutions are applied in a聽commercial聽setting or made聽open聽source for the public to reap the benefits from.听听

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles聽(UAVs)聽

From 30cm diameter indoor micro aerial vehicles to metre diameter helicopters聽to collaborative teams of drones, the team has worked on a range of聽UAVs.聽Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. These include dynamics and control as well as navigation and coordination. Our current hangar includes a fleet of聽Matrice聽600 Pro UAVs, with onboard LiDAR and vision sensing, UWB positioning for UGV-UAV coordination and high-performance communication systems.听听

Unmanned ground vehicles (UGVs)聽

The latest autonomous tractor under development by A/Prof Jay聽Katupitiya聽takes advantage of years of experience in rugged systems to provide a testbed for improved perception and control systems.听听

Resident Space Objects (RSOs)聽

Advanced astrodynamics models, nonlinear/non-Gaussian filtering/estimation, data association, GNSS measurement processing, precise/reliable orbit determination, measurement simulation techniques have been developed by Dr Yang Yang for general space navigation and space situational awareness applications.

Data filtering and fusion聽

With real-time data filtering, processing, network optimisation and fusion capabilities, the industrial strength system developed by Dr Jose聽Guivant聽has been used in applications from mining to education.听听

Agricultural image processing聽

Robust and lightweight systems for sensing and real-time in-field processing using only smartphones have been developed by Dr Hiranya Jayakody.聽

A system for real-time phenology assessment and canopy density estimation has been developed in conjunction with聽SwarmFarm聽and ADAMA. This technology has聽been applied聽to a variable timing of sprayer for flower thinning.听听

Techniques for image processing have also been developed into聽open聽source聽tools for analysis of stomata in microscope images and QR code metadata storage and retrieval for rapid sample data association.聽
