To empower your journey through ºÚÁÏÍø´óʼÇ, we offer the following services.

Indigenous students get exclusive access to our study space—equipped with computers, printing facilities, private study rooms, and a stocked kitchen to keep you fuelled.
We're located on the  at ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Sydney (Kensington).
Our staffed office hours are 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students enrolled at ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç can access the space from 8am-10 pm, 7 days a week. Please ensure you have your student card to swipe in.

Throughout the year we host a variety of events focussed on making students’ time at uni fulfilling and memorable.

    Tanya Griffiths
Tanya Griffiths
Current Students Lead, Nura Gili
Tanya is a proud Ngiyampaa/Wangaapuwan/Yorta Yorta woman from far western NSW.
She has over 24 years’ work experience in higher education sector, in several positions in the student services area.
The most recent was leading the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student Support Services team at the University of Sydney, where she was employed for 15 years.
Tanya has won a Vice Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Indigenous Education Strategies for implementing a peer mentoring program and has also worked on many major projects that help with the transition, support, and retention of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Students.

Shajarra is a proud Wiradjuri woman who grew up in Sydney. Her deep sense of community and culture has been shaped by her connection and involvement in the Redfern, Waterloo community, as well as her travels to Dubbo.
Shajarra is a people person with a bubbly personality that reflects her welcoming presence and ability to develop strong, genuine relationships and commitment to supporting others.
She holds a Bachelor of Business with majors in Human Resources and Marketing. Shajarra is dedicated to maintaining and encouraging Indigenous excellence through her values, commitment to education, and community involvement.
She is honoured to be a part of the Nura Gili Team.

Deidre is a proud Kalkadoon and Barada Barna woman from Far North Queensland in the Outback town of Cloncurry. She is an enthusiastic educator who has extensive experience working in the fields of Primary, Secondary and Tertiary education for over 20 years.
She is delighted to be part of the Nura Gili team as a student success officer, she will provide the students with the necessary support. Deidre hopes to encourage our students to thrive in their academic journeys.

As another passionate member of the Support Team, Nathan is responsible for providing support for students in the Faculty of the Built Environment and Enabling students. Nathan has over ten years of educational experience, holding academic and pastoral coordinator positions.

Our Student Ambassador program gives you the opportunity to actively engage, share and enhance your university experiences with key stakeholders and industry partners.
This program provides you with an opportunity to contribute to Nura Gili’s engagement events, activities and projects.
To be eligible for this program you must be a currently enrolled ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander student with relevant university life experience.

We can provide guidance on nearly any topic, including academic and financial worries, accommodation options, cultural matters and sorry business. We're also here to simply be company if your social battery's running low!

The doctors, nurses and administration staff at ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Health Services are non-judgmental and are here to help you with any concerns you may have about your health and wellbeing.

ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Psychology and Wellness provides confidential, short-term telehealth and face-to-face counselling to currently enrolled students, as well as a range of workshops, and digital self-help resources.

Uni can be tough. A lot of students experience mental stress, low mood, loneliness and relationship issues at some point during their degree- which isn't always easy to manage, especially alongside the pressure of academic work.
The good news is that when you're feeling the pressure of juggling uni, work, relationships and health there are heaps of other people who understand what you're going through.

Our undergraduate courses
It's only in Indigenous Studies that academic inquiry is organised around the interests of Indigenous peoples.
It develops your understanding of Indigenous philosophies, knowledges, and sovereignties while engaging with diverse Indigenous perspectives and aspirations of self-determination in local, national, and international contexts.
