Murrumbidgee Health & Knowledge PrecinctÌý

The Murrumbidgee Health & Knowledge Precinct covers an area of over 125,000km and more than 250,000 people. The heart of the precinct is located near Wagga Wagga’s central Business District, as It is a mixed-use hub surrounding the city’s two major hospitals – Wagga Base Hospital (public) and Calvary Riverina Hospital (private).Ìý

The precinct is made up of more than 25 partnering organisations from across government, education and health.Ìý

Focused on health initiatives, the Precinct has three goals:

Enhance research to develop new and innovative ways to provide services.
Improve education and job opportunities to grow the regional workforce.
Strengthen the journey through the health service.

When the Precinct achieves these goals, our regional communities will be healthier, and our health and education systems will be stronger.ÌýÌý

The Precinct is building the best, most efficient and connected regional health service possible providing safe and timely care that meets the community’s needs. A health system where our community has a choice in how and where they can go to look after their health.Ìý
Ìý
It’s supporting doctors, nurses and specialists who work in our hospitals, general practices, and community health centres to work together across the private and public health system.Ìý
Ìý
It’s improving how health workers are trained and employed in our region, so they have the skills and technology they need to care for us in our community to improve health and wellbeing.
