Danielle Sirmai Memorial Award

The Danielle Sirmai Memorial Award is a travel award for an international internship, mooting program or a Learning Abroad Exchange or Short Course/Program. It is expected that the award will promote and foster further study of international arbitration or private international law and develop expertise in these fields in Australia. The Award is in memory of the life and work of Danielle Nicole Sirmai, nee Feller.ÌýApplications open on 01/07/2025 and close on 15/09/2025.

Law Schools Global League Summer School

°Õ³ó±ðÌýÌýis a partnership among top law schools around the world. Each year, the Summer School is hosted by a different partner, which takes place during the northern hemisphere’s summer. In 2025, the Summer School is hosted by the University of Pretoria, South Africa (30 June – 11 July 2025).Ìý

  • Eligibility

    • LLB students who have completed 78 UOC of LAW courses.

    • JD students who have completed 72 UOC of JURD courses.

    How and when to apply

    Applications typically open in March when the host university releases information. When available, details will be included in your weekly Student News and posted on the faculty .

    Applications are to be submitted to Associate Dean (International) Professor Lucas Lixinski (l.lixinski@unsw.edu.au), providing the following:

    • Latest academic transcript

    • CV

    • A short statement on why you wish to be selected and what this opportunity would mean for your graduation (max. 500 words)

    • Optional: a short statement on equitable considerations that informs you wish to pursue this opportunity (max. 200 words)

    Study costsÌý

    As part of our arrangement with the LSGL, ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç will pay for the tuition fees of one ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Law & Justice student, plus contribute up to AUD 1,500 towards your airfare or accommodation.

Pathway from ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç JD to Oxford

ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç JD students can pursue a Bachelor of Civil Law or Master of Law and Finance at the University of Oxford. This combined program spans 3.5 academic years: 2.5 years at ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç and 1 year at Oxford. Students receive credit for 4 JD electives (24 UOC).

  • Eligibility

    Before going to Oxford, students are required to complete the following:Ìý

    • All core courses (for Australian LPAB professional qualification requirements)

    • 3 electives (18 UOC)

    How and when to apply

    Applications open in September for the following year on the Oxford Admissions Website. If your application to Oxford is successful, you must apply for program leave before departure viaÌý

    1. Apply to Oxford Admissions:

      - After completing 96 UOC at ºÚÁÏÍø´óʼÇ
      - Minimum Distinction WAM required (cut-off set by Oxford*)

    2. Departure to Oxford:

      - After completing 120 UOC at ºÚÁÏÍø´óʼÇ
      - 24 UOC of electives remaining

    3. Complete MLF or BCL at Oxford:

      - One academic year (September to June)
      - Receive 24 UOC credit.

    Oxford’s subjects are year-long, so you will complete your JD after finishing the BCL/MLF in June. Ensure you arrange for your Oxford transcript to be sent to ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç for credit transfer, as Oxford does not send transcripts back to ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç automatically.Ìý

    Study costsÌý

    Students are responsible for all tuition, travel, and living expenses associated with the Bachelor of Civil Law (BCL) and Master of Law and FInance (MLF). It’s important to investigate these costs early to ensure you can cover the costs of studying and living in Oxford. Start by visiting the University of OxfordÌý

    If you are accepted into the BCL or MLF at Oxford University Law School, you do not pay tuition fees for the final 24UOC in electives needed to complete your JD. These fees are waived through the Degree Partnership program.Ìý

    Students must arrange their own visas and accommodation. Accommodation is typically provided by the admitting Oxford College but can also be arranged privately. For more details, check theÌý

SULaw's Summer Programme - Stockholm University

ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Law and Justice students are invited to apply for SULaw's Summer Programme atÌýStockholm University.Ìý
Nominated students can choose to study withÌýthe SULaw at Stockholm University for 2, 4 or 6 weeks andÌýreceive credit recognition for your ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Law degree.

  • In order to receive academic credit for the program, ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç students must completeÌý2 SU courses. The summer courses are undergraduate courses at either basic orÌý advanced levels.

    Approval for credit transfer is at the discretion of the Faculty. Credit approval can only be given prior to the commencement of a Learning Abroad program - no retrospective requests will be accepted.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for studies at SULaw, you must be nominated by ºÚÁÏÍø´óʼÇ, and fulfill the academic requirements below:

    • LLB students who have completed 72 UOC of LAW courses and JD students who have completed 78 UOC of JURD courses.Ìý
    • To enrol in a course at basic level, students are expected to have completed at leastÌýone full yearÌýof studies in law prior to the program.
    • For courses at advanced level, students should have completed at leastÌýtwo full yearsÌýof studies in law.

Centre for Transnational Legal Studies (CTLS)

ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Law & Justice is a founding member of the Centre for Transnational Legal Studies (CTLS), which includes 20 leading global law schools committed to addressing transnational issues and international law problems. Founded in 2008 by Georgetown University Law Centre, CTLS offers an intensive program of study.

  • Students will study 24 UOC across four courses with varied assessment tasks, with a pass/fail final grade.

    Courses are taught by leading teachers from top law schools in North America, Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Africa, and attended by students from across the world.Ìý

    Eligibility

    • LLB students who have completed 78 UOC of LAW courses.
    • JD students who have completed 72 UOC of JURD courses.

    How and when to apply

    Applicants will be assessed based on academic merit and a 500-word statement addressing select criteria.

    Students who are selected will be enrolled in specific courses at ºÚÁÏÍø´óʼÇ:

    • LAWS3670/JURD7670 Transnational Legal Studies A

    • LAWS3671/JURD7671 Transnational Legal Studies B

    • October for the August-December intake, and
    • February for the January-May intake.

    Study costs

    You do not need to pay additional tuition fees, though costs of living in London can be high. The CTLS itself estimates costs of living in London for a semester to be upwards of AUD 20k.

Tsinghua - ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Pathway Program

ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç LLM students have an exciting opportunity to enrol in the Juris Master (JM) program at Tsinghua University. Upon successfully completing the Tsinghua JM, you'll be awarded a Master of Laws from ºÚÁÏÍø´óʼÇ.Ìý

  • Eligibility

    • ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç LLM students who have completed at least 24 UOC LLM courses and achieved a WAM of 65+.

    How and when to apply

    There is one intake per calendar year for the Tsinghua JM in Chinese Law program: Fall Semester (September).

New Southbound Policy Elite Study Program

Opportunities are available for ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Law & Justice students (JD or LLB)ÌýÌýto participate in the New Southbound Policy Elite Study Program.
Founded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs at National Chung Hsing University in Taiwan, the 2024 program focused on sustainability.

  • Eligibility

    • LLB students who have completed 78 UOC of LAW courses.
    • JD students who have completed 72 UOC of JURD courses.\

    For participation in this program, you can claim up to 12 UOC of elective courses.
