    Making urban big data visible
°ä¾±³Ù²â³Õ¾±³úÌýis a data visualisation and analytics initiative by City Futures, capitalising on our unique access to urban big data for Sydney. Together, the visualisations on this page are helping to build a comprehensive and integrated visual depiction of our changing city. Maps to date include data on Sydney’s emerging housing market – affordability, strata development and our ‘million dollar property’ map - as well as urban wellbeing, transport and bike use. City housing indicators
Higher education visa holders in Australia 2016
This map shows the total number of higher education visa (573 and 574) holders in each Statistical Area 2 (SA2) of Australia.Â
Housing Need Dashboard
These maps show the estimated number of households that were not living in appropriate housing on census night in 2021.
Million Dollar Property Sales
This map shows the location of property sales above $1 million between 2009 and 2015. Note the dramatic westward movement from the end of 2013 onwards.
Mortgage Taxation Simulation
Visualising these using the CityViz system provides researchers with the ability to interact with the data, filtering locations, wins and losses, at varied scales (from SA2, regional, state to national level).
Poverty after housing costs in Australia 2015-16
This map shows the proportion of each SA2's population experiencing poverty after housing costs are considered.Â
Regional Property Market Dashboard
This geographic point dataset was analysed and aggergated across multiple levels of administrative boundaries such as Statistical Areas 2, Local Government Areas etc and linked with their corresponding census data from Australian Bureau of Statistics to create a profile of the property market and population.
Rental Vulnerability Index
The project defines 'rental vulnerability' as the vulnerability of persons to problems that may make their rental housing unaffordable, insecure or inappropriate, and which therefore indicates a need for tenant advice.

This map shows the historical progression of strata schemes as they were registered across Australia and New Zealand. Initially concentrated in a few small pockets of inner urban areas, strata developments are now an important feature of the housing landscape across Australia and New Zealand.

This index measures the ratio of median house prices to median household income in Sydney.
