On 30 July 2025, the International Centre for Future Health Systems (ICFHS), with the Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing Research (CEPAR), hosted a forum on healthy ageing featuring presentations by Professor John Beard, Dr Rafal Chomik, and Associate Professor Katja Hanewald , plus a distinguished panel. Beard highlighted the WHO Healthy Ageing Framework and a shift from disease-based care to intrinsic capacity and functional ability; Chomik and Hanewald showed gains across cohorts but widening socioeconomic gaps in disability-free life expectancy. The panel called for integrated, equity-focused health system reform and incentives that reward health services for helping older people maintain the ability to live the lives they value.
