ºÚÁÏÍø´óʼÇ

A new home for ºÚÁÏÍø´óʼǒs Rural Clinical Campus in Wagga Wagga brings a world-class contemporary medical education to rural and regional students. The $26 million ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Biomedical Sciences Centre is located next to Wagga Wagga Base Hospital and opened in early 2025.  It was supported by a $21 million funding commitment from the federal government, as part of its wider $95.4 million investment in the Murray-Darling Medical Schools Network (MDMSN). 

In response to a safety priority identified during risk assessments, Estate Management undertook modification works across levels 1 to 6 of the C25 Lowy Cancer Research Centre to enhance safety within the atrium spaces.

ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç has officially opened its new CBD Campus, offering a modern and welcoming space designed to enhance the University’s education offerings. Located in the heart of Sydney, the campus brings together students, industry and faculty in a dynamic environment that supports collaboration, flexible learning, and sustainability.

Refurbishment works at 14 and 22 Arthur Street revitalised two residential homes, preserving their character while improving sustainability. Upgrades began in April 2024 and concluded in January 2025, with extensive internal and external restorations.

ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Library’s lower ground floor has been transformed into a purpose-built archive and art storage space. Delivered over 15 months, the upgrade ensures stable environmental conditions for long-term preservation of books and artworks, with input from the Library, Archives, Art and Engineering teams.

The transformation of rooms G31 to G38 in the Wallace Wurth Building has delivered a cutting-edge biomechanics laboratory, purpose-built to support teaching, learning and advanced research in human movement and physical rehabilitation. 

Located on level 6 of the ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Business School (E12), the Dean’s Lounge was refurbished to improve its functionality as a high-quality meeting and events space. Previously hindered by poor acoustics and an AV system that didn’t meet the needs of hybrid meetings or in-person gatherings, the space was no longer fit for purpose.

The ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Estate Management office on Level 3 of the Matthews Building (F23) has undergone a series of targeted upgrades to improve functionality and support the needs of a growing team. Delivered over the 2024 Christmas break, this Stage 2 project focused on creating a more ergonomic, collaborative, and flexible workspace.

The Stage 2 Centrally Allocated Teaching Spaces (CATS) project at ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Randwick campus has delivered seven modern, flexible classrooms in high-quality demountables. This second stage follows the University’s broader investment in enhancing teaching environments that can adapt to evolving learning needs.

The H25 Botany Street Substation 12 project delivered essential electrical upgrades to improve the reliability and safety of ºÚÁÏÍø´óʼǒs infrastructure. The work involved replacing aging and unmaintainable high and low voltage equipment, including a new transformer and updated main switchboards, while maintaining power supply to live areas throughout the project.

The Library Lawn, a central and well-loved space on ºÚÁÏÍø´óʼǒs Kensington Campus, has received a series of upgrades to enhance its appearance as a welcoming outdoor area for students, staff and visitors.

Connected with Randwick’s new Prince of Wales Hospital Acute Services Building (IASB), ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Sydney houses state-of-the-art research, clinical innovation, biomedical and teaching facilities across 10 floors and approximately 5000m2 in a multipurpose space known as the Integrated Acute Services Building (IASB).

ºÚÁÏÍø´óʼǒs collection of 17 official portraits – featuring past Chancellors, Vice-Chancellors, and R.J Heffron MLA (Member of the Legislative Assembly) – has been relocated from the Chancellery Building and thoughtfully installed across the Kensington Campus. This public display recognises the University’s legacy of leadership and makes the portraits more accessible to the ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç community and visitors.

ºÚÁÏÍø´óʼǒs Critical Infrastructure Services program conducted an audit of existing IT and power infrastructure across priority buildings on campus. As a result, four high-priority facilities – Lowy (C25), Wallace Wurth (C27), Samuels (F25) and Tyree (H6) – were identified for urgent backup power upgrades, including the installation of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems.

Conveniently located in the middle of campus, the Quadrangle Food Court is an integral part of culture and community at ºÚÁÏÍø´óʼÇ. The works will further activate the space, improving the campus experience for students and staff.

Village Green was transformed into a brand-new world-class sport and leisure environment. The new facilities support multiple sports, exercise, socialising and relaxation on campus in a fresh, new way.

Alumni Park, located on ºÚÁÏÍø´óʼǒs Kensington campus, was revitalised in 2021 to provide new recreational facilities for students and staff, embrace the history of the land and its people, and recognise the contribution of alumni. The park has been redesigned with a focus on student experience, providing new facilities for events, performances, and club activities, as well as unique welcoming spaces to relax and socialise. 

Students, staff and visitors can now charge up their electric vehicles on ºÚÁÏÍø´óʼǒs Kensington campus using renewable energy – thanks to a new solar car park array installed on the rooftop level of the Botany Street car park. One of the largest electric vehicle charging facilities in Sydney.

The award-winning Biological Sciences on upper campus was designed to support current research and teaching needs while also providing infrastructure to support future technological advances in biology and medicine.

The Clancy Auditorium, which was constructed in the late 1960s, opened in 1971 containing a single auditorium space for both teaching and events, with entry foyers to the north, east and western elevations.

The home of discovery and breakthroughs since the 1960s, the Electrical Engineering Building needed a complete refurbishment to prepare it for the next generation of world-class research and teaching in electrical engineering.

Completed in 2019, the Science and Engineering Building (SEB) represents a major investment by ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç to support cutting-edge research and interdisciplinary collaboration. The building offers state-of-the-art research and teaching facilities for the  Schools of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, and the School of the Arts & Media, fostering both scientific innovation and creative practice.

To align with the ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Strategy 2025 for social engagement, the Bookshop was enhanced with the addition of a café, indoor and outdoor seating, and beautiful interior design all of which creates a vibrant space to hold events and foster conversations about ideas.

As the Roundhouse is a key landmark within the lower campus of the University, the surrounding landscape was also improved with the addition of several fresh, new, green connections to Anzac Parade, the L3 Kingsford light rail stop, and the broader campus.
