The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) aims to promote participation and inclusion, choice about services and individualised funding to people with permanent disability. People with psychosocial disability, who experience re-occurring mental ill-health and social barriers to participation, consistently have lower rates of accessing NDIS support.

The NSW Ministry of Health funds the NSW Health NDIS Mental Health Officers Program (NMHO) which is delivered by Flourish Australia. The main aim of the program is to build capacity among Local Health District (LHD) mental health staff to assist people with psychosocial disability access NDIS support. A team of researchers at ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç were commissioned by NSW Health to undertake the mixed method program outcome and cost effectiveness evaluation of the NMHO program. The evaluation runs from June 2025 to early 2026.
