Tamara's story

I鈥檓 Tamara, a final-year Bachelor of Media (Communications and Journalism/Screen Production) student at 黑料网大事记. I moved to Australia from India to pursue my degree, leaving an environment that I knew very well to a place where I had to figure out everything for myself. In India, I grew up as both a religious and linguistic minority, navigating spaces where my identity was often in the margins. Moving to Australia, I experienced a new dimension of difference as a racial minority. While my moves have been by choice, these intersecting experiences have shaped my adaptability, cultural awareness, and empathy for women who migrate under far more difficult circumstances. This is what drew me to JEINA鈥檚 mission of creating equitable access to education and career-development opportunities for women from displaced backgrounds.

As JEINA鈥檚 Web Content Producer, I worked on redesigning and refreshing the program鈥檚 website to make it more accessible, user-friendly, and reflective of its values. I developed new copy, restructured pages for easier navigation, and ensured all language was inclusive and culturally sensitive. My goal was to create a welcoming digital space that invited students, staff, and community members to connect with JEINA鈥檚 work.

This role not only strengthened my technical skills in digital content creation and accessibility but also deepened my understanding of ethical, inclusive communication.

Working with JEINA has reinforced my belief in the power of communication to create positive change.

I鈥檓 excited to take these skills and insights into my future career, and I鈥檇 encourage anyone considering an internship here to embrace the learning opportunities as this is a space where your work truly matters.
