Your individual reference number for your education journey in Australia

The Unique Student Identifier (USI) is a government-issued, ten-digit ID that is free to create, remains valid for life聽and provides an that contains a record of all study and training completed in Australia across multiple institutions.听You must have a USI account as a student in Australia.

USI requirements at 黑料网大事记

From 1 January 2023, all students enrolled at 黑料网大事记 must have a Unique Student Identifier (USI), unless exempt. A USI is required for domestic and onshore international students to graduate, receive an award and access Commonwealth Assistance (if eligible).

The USI has also replaced the Commonwealth Higher Education Student Support Number (CHESSN). Without it, 黑料网大事记 cannot offer a Commonwealth supported place or Commonwealth Assistance.

The USI is a Commonwealth support requirement for enrolling. Before you enrol we will ask you to provide your USI as part of the online acceptance process, either as a commencing student or when changing programs. Continuing and graduating students can provide their USI at any time through the聽听辫辞谤迟补濒.

If you have completed or attended any Nationally Recognised Training (NRT) since 2015, you may already have a Unique Student Identifier (USI).

If this is your first time completing a NRT, get a USI now.听

It is important that you only have聽one USI聽to ensure you receive the correct HELP entitlements.听Please keep your USI secure, as 黑料网大事记 is not able to retrieve it on your behalf.

You can verify whether you already have a USI or recover it using:

  • Email address
  • Mobile number
  • Security questions
  • Personal identification

Important note for offshore students

International students and New Zealand citizens must physically be in Australia to create a USI. If you are currently overseas, you will need to wait until you arrive to complete the process.

To obtain your Unique Student Identifier (USI), visit the Australian Government鈥檚 official .

Applying for a USI is free, quick, and secure. You will need to provide to verify your identity.

Before starting your application, make sure the name on your identification exactly matches your university records. This is essential to avoid enrolment issues, delays in accessing your training records, or problems at graduation. For consistency, we also recommend using the same identification document when creating your USI, your Tax File Number (TFN), and your myGov account.

Once you have your USI, ensure you provide your details to 黑料网大事记.听

  • You must provide at least one of the following:

    • Australian passport
    • Australian birth certificate
    • Australian driver licence
    • Medicare card
    • International passport with a valid Australian visa
    • Centrelink concession card
    • Australian citizenship certificate

Once you have your USI:

  1. Log in to聽
  2. Go to聽My Student Profile
  3. 厂别濒别肠迟听Unique Student Identifier聽under Personal Details
  4. Enter your 10-digit USI

USI requirements in higher education

The Unique Student Identifier (USI) is an Australian Government initiative introduced to higher education in 2021. From 1 January 2021, new domestic and onshore international students need to apply for a USI. From 1 January 2023, all higher education providers have been prohibited from conferring an award if the student does not have a USI, unless an exemption applies.听This means you won't be able to graduate if you don't have an active USI.

The Student Identifiers Amendment (Higher Education) Bill 2019, which amended the Student Identifiers Act 2014, extended the USI system to higher education and defined how it is assigned, collected, used, disclosed and verified. The Bill received Royal Assent on 6 March 2020, making these requirements law.

  • The following applies to international students only:

    • International students do not require a USI, if they completed all their study outside of Australia.
    • International higher education students do not require a USI, if they commenced their study before 1 January 2023 and are not in Australia to receive their award.

What happens if I don鈥檛 provide my USI?

You will:

  • not be awarded your degree
  • not receive Commonwealth Assistance (Commonwealth support and HECS-HELP, FEE-HELP, SA-HELP and/or OS-HELP)
