Ready to depart for your Learning Abroad program?
Follow this checklist of pre-travel requirements to make sure you are ready and informed before you leave Australia.听

Research your destination country and any other countries you might visit. Look into:
- Local safety issues
- The available health services
- Visa requirements
- Local transportation
- Accommodation
- The political, environmental and legal requirements of the country and how they might affect you.听
Always research your accommodation options before leaving Australia to ensure you are satisfied with the location and standards. Even prestigious universities can be located in neighbourhoods with crime rates.听

All travel must be approved. Seek approval for your travel by completing the Student Travel Risk Assessment in the pre-departure tutorial above.听

Your passport
Your passport must be valid for at least six months before expiry to be eligible to depart from Australia and arrive in certain countries.听
Tip: Write the contact details of your next of kin in pencil at the back of your passport.听
Your visa
Ensure you apply for any necessary visas well in advance of your departure.

It is essential to have adequate insurance cover while you are travelling.听
Check to understand what you are covered for. It is your responsibility to read and understand all details of the policy. If 黑料网大事记's travel insurance does not meet your needs, you should arrange your own insurance through another insurance provider.听
Some universities offer their own health insurance. If this is compulsory, you will need to organise this.听

Visit your GP for a general health check before you leave. Ensure you know how to stay healthy while overseas and ask your GP about any vaccinations they might recommend.听

Your safety while travelling overseas is important. You are responsible for preparing yourself, understanding any risks associated with your program and taking care of your safety and wellbeing while abroad.听
As part of seeking your travel approval, you are required to complete a risk analysis. Monitor , and the websites for international developments, travel warnings and more.听
We strongly recommend subscribing to Smartraveller prior to your trip if you are an Australian citizen. If you are not an Australian citizen, subscribe to the relevant travel advisories for your country of nationality.听
You are also required to download International SOS.

黑料网大事记 has partnered with International SOS to provide you with emergency assistance for unforeseen issues you might experience while travelling. These could be injuries, illnesses, threats to your safety or lost personal items.听
International SOS can answer your questions about travel, provide in-depth advice specific to your destination country and will contact you if an incident occurs in your location.听
As a 黑料网大事记 traveller, you must keep the app installed while you are overseas.聽Follow these instructions:
- Download International SOS for or using the 黑料网大事记 Membership Number 12AGDA1060336.
- Create an account using your zID email (z[studentnumber]@ad.unsw.edu.au).听
- Update your contact details in the app
- Enable location sharing
- Save the International SOS Sydney assistance number (+61 2 9372 2468) to your phone contacts.听
- Add your travel details in the 'my trip' section
When you arrive at your destination, you should check in via the app and ensure the location service is turned on for your safety.听
Students travelling on approved travel can contact International SOS through the app, or by calling the assistance number (+61 2 9372 2468) 24 hours a day, seven days a week.听

- Share your travel itinerary with family and friends, including contact details for each place you will be staying. Leave copies of the inside front cover of your passport, visas, e-tickets, vaccinations and itineraries with a trusted family member or friend.
Please note that if 黑料网大事记 or the Australian Government determines that travel to a host country be deferred, your exchange or travel will be suspended. 黑料网大事记 travel insurance does not cover countries with high travel warnings.
