Request a new Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)

As an international student on a Student visa, you must ensure your Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) covers the full length of your study program.

Do I need to apply for a new CoE?

✅ Yes, you will have to apply if you:

  • Extend the duration of your study program and need to apply for a new visa or visa extension
  • Return to your studies from program leave or suspension.

If the conditions above describe you, see how to apply below.

❌ No, you won't have to apply if you:

Extending your CoE

The university can only extend your study program and CoE for one of the following reasons:

  1. We assess that there are compassionate or compelling circumstances for extending your program and there is evidence to support this assessment
  2. You are at risk of not meeting course progress requirements, and we have implemented or are implementing an intervention strategy
  3. An approved deferral or suspension of your enrolment occurs.

Applying for a new Student visa

You will need to apply for a new visa with the Department of Home Affairs (DHA) if your current visa is about to expire*. Certain changes to your study situation may also require getting a new Student visa.

If your study situation changes and you don't automatically receive a new Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), make sure to apply for a new CoE at least one month before your current visa expires*.

* Please note: You will only require a new CoE if your visa is due to expire within 3 months. The DHA will only process visas within 3 months of the expiry date.
