The Aviation Society Peer Mentoring Program is designed to support first-year students as they transition into their first term of aviation studies. The program aims to establish and improve communication channels among students undertaking a ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Aviation degree, fostering connections between first-year and senior students within the School of Aviation. Mentees will be paired with a mentor studying the same stream or program and sharing similar availability.

About the program
The Peer Mentoring Program for BABS students fosters connections between students at various stages of their academic journey, creating a supportive network and facilitating discussions about opportunities within the BABS field. Mentors and mentees are paired or grouped at the start of the term, meeting regularly to discuss study, university life, and career prospects beyond an undergraduate degree.
Midway through the term, pairs or small groups merge into "buddy groups" to enhance interaction and collaboration within the wider program. Participants also gain priority access to BABSOC social, professional, and academic events throughout the year, providing additional opportunities to bond and grow as part of the mentoring community.

Data Science Society (DataSoc) peer mentoring program

About the program
The DataSoc Peer Mentoring Program is designed to support first-year students in their transition from high school to university and to help them make the most of their university experience. The program pairs first-year students with two Peer Mentors, offering a supportive group environment from the outset.
Participants will engage in weekly catch-ups, where Peer Mentors share their experiences and provide guidance. To enhance the university experience, the program also includes a variety of fun weekly challenges. Key events throughout the term include the Welcome to 2021 event (Week 1), Midterm Picnic (Week 6), and the End of Term Beach Day (T1 Holidays).

About the program
The MSE PGSOC Peer Mentoring Program is designed to support new students in the Materials Postgraduate Society (PGSOC) and the School of Materials Science and Engineering. The program pairs international and domestic commencing students with a peer mentor, typically from the same research group, to foster a sense of connection and support. Mentees may opt-out at any time. Mentoring sessions, which focus on shared experiences and understanding what is typical at each phase of the program, take place regularly. Participants can also join events, such as a welcome BBQ, as part of the program.

The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) Undergraduate Society (UGSOC) peer mentoring program connects first-year students with experienced mentors to help them navigate university life. Each mentee is also paired with an academic adviser for support with subject selection, course requirements, enrolment, academic standing, and student exchange opportunities. The program includes regular social events, group meetings, and online activities, ensuring a smooth transition into university life, with full support from mentors and the School of Materials Science and Engineering.

The Medical Science Society peer mentoring programÌýsupports first-year Bachelor of Medical Science students starting in Term 1 by easing the transition into university life. Experienced mentors from 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year provide valuable guidance on key topics such as the , timetabling, support services, clubs, societies, career pathways, and campus dining. Equipped with diverse backgrounds and comprehensive training, mentors offer knowledgeable and empathetic support to help students thrive.
The program includes one-on-one mentoring and engaging events featuring games, food, and opportunities to connect with peers. A highlight is the orientation event, where participants can meet mentors and fellow students, enjoy team-building activities, and bond over dinner. Photos and testimonials from previous years showcase the program’s impact and vibrant community.

About the program
The School of Psychology offers two peer mentoring streams to support students at different stages of their studies. TheÌýUndergraduate ProgramÌýhelps first-year Psychology students transition to university life. Groups of 2–3 third-year mentors lead weekly one-hour sessions during Term 1, addressing academic, social, career, and university-related needs in a flexible, student-centred manner.
TheÌýHonours ProgramÌýsupports students in their honours year through mentoring sessions led by 2–3 PhD or Post-doctoral candidates. Held three times per term, with 8–10 sessions annually, these informal meetings provide tailored guidance, resources, and social support to help honours students manage their studies effectively.

About this program
The Women in Science Peer Mentor Program is an inclusive initiative designed to support undergraduate students across various disciplines, with a particular focus on empowering women and minority groups in STEMM fields. Open to female, male, and non-binary individuals from all degrees, the program aims to foster a supportive community, reduce stigma, and encourage leadership development. Accredited by AHEGS, it is an excellent opportunity for students seeking leadership experience while building meaningful connections within a diverse social network.
Mentors are paired with mentees based on their degree, major, and shared interests, meeting weekly for one-hour sessions during Term 1 or Term 2, with a minimum of five sessions. The program also features two social events per term: a bonding night for participants to connect and a second event integrated into a WISSOC gathering, offering additional opportunities to strengthen relationships and engage with the wider mentoring community.
