What is academic standing?
Academic standing is the key mechanism by which a student’s progress in their program is monitored at the conclusion of each term, semester or hexamester.
The purpose of specifying your academic standing is to alert you and your program authority as early as possible to any problem that may negatively impact your progress.

It is calculated at the career level (undergraduate/postgraduate), not the individual program level.
Undergraduate students
- All students start in Good standing.
- If you pass 50% or more of the units attempted, you maintain Good standing.
- Your standing depends on both the current term or semester’s results and the previous term or semester’s standing.
Postgraduate students
- Your standing is based on the total number of course failures over the duration of your postgraduate studies.
Research and non-award students
- Academic standing is not calculated for research and non-award students.

- ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Canberra: End of semesters 1 and 2.
- ºÚÁÏÍø´óÊÂ¼Ç Online: End of Hexamesters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6.
- Results from Summer Term/Semester count toward Term/Semester 1 academic standing.

- You can view your academic standing alongside your .
- Go to the Results Summary screen to view your results and standing for a given term or semester.
- This will be available only after all results are released for that term.
During the assessment period, the Results Summary screen only permits you to view results for the most recently completed term/semester/hexamester.Â
Your term/semester/hexamester statistics and academic standing are only available once all results for the term/semester/hexamester are released.Â
What the different levels of academic standing mean?
Academic standing has many levels. All students start with Good standing but continued poor progress can lead to other standing levels being assigned, each with its own implications for your progress toward completion of your program.

Early intervention and support services can help you stay on track. If your standing changes to suspension or exclusion, you are be eligible to appeal.
