Have you failed the same course twice?

If you repeatedly and unsuccessfully attempt the same course or course rule, it is important to seek academic advice at the earliest opportunity. Progress isn't always linear and there is support available to help you succeed.

If you have failed the same course or course rule more than once, you will receive an email asking you to meet with an academic advisor. This will happen after the release of results at the end of a term, semester or hexamester. You should meet with your academic advisor no later than Week 3 of the following term, semester or hexamester. Ideally, you should meet by the end of Week 1.

If you fail the same course or course rule twice, you must seek academic advice from the Course Authority before you enrol again. This will allow you to access the appropriate support services and resources you might need to successfully complete the course or course rule.

What is a course rule?

A course rule treats certain courses as equivalent for meeting a specific program requirement. For example, if your program requires you to take either Mathematics 1A or Higher Mathematics 1A, both courses will fulfill the same requirement under the rule.

Have you failed the same course more than twice?

If you fail the same course or course rule three times, you must seek advice from your Program Authority before you enrol again. Your Program Authority will discuss your suitability for the program you are enrolled in.

If you fail the same course or course rule four times, your enrolment in your program will be terminated. If this occurs, you have the right to appeal the termination through the Re-Enrolment Appeal Committee.
